The view while driving on the Pacific Coast Highway.
The waves on the beach of Crystal Cove State Park are perfect for body surfing.
We camped in Crystal Cove State Park, it wasn't the best experience. Keep in mind, you'll be camping on rock and dirt, don't make the same mistake we made, bring an air mattress.
But, the great beach made it worth the bad sleep.
Our next stop was Topanga State Park, although we didn't plan it, it was definitely one of our faves. About 10 minutes from the beautiful beaches of Malibu and LA but completely isolated in the cliffs and canyons of the Santa Monica Mountains.
We drove the 10 minutes to Venice Beach in L.A. in one day. The beach gym is crazy. This was right next to the infamous Muscle Beach.
We bought this amazing dreamcatcher made by hippies on the beach. It was a steal for $40 and they were so sweet. It's now up in our home as a constant reminder of our trip.
We ate at Gjelina on the cool Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Hands down one of the best meals of my life. Expensive but so worth it. Not touristy, it was recommended by locals.

We stayed in the most beautiful Airbnb in Topanga, isolated at the end of a dirt road, and at the base of a gorgeous canyon. Hosted by Matthew, such an inspiring person. It was a very memorable and romantic few nights. This was our outdoor kitchen.
This was our bedroom. Right outside the window we not only had a killer view but a hamac and a infrared sauna. We also had a claw foot bath and outdoor shower. Total paradise.
