This sign that once welcomed tourists to a resort destination, today welcomed us to a ghost town.
All the roads were deserted like this.
Most of the homes in Bombay Beach are trailers.
Several of the trailers are abandoned and decrepit. Belongings left behind, perhaps after flooding.
Damage caused by flooding.
Most of what's left of Bombay Beach looks like this.
Dikes are built along the access to the beach to prevent flooding. To access the Salton Sea you have to climb over them.
We made it to the beach. There is still some creativity and art in the area. We even found a beach house for rent on Airbnb. The area is a photographer's dream.
There it is, the Salton Sea, absolutely no movement. The smell of dead, rotting fish is still in the air. But it's beautiful isn't it?
It was so incredibly hot, it was difficult to breath. So hot my shoes melted.
What a surprise, a home that's intact, maintained and beautiful.
