Salvation Mountain is about three storeys high and 100 feet wide, it is absolutely beautiful, vibrant and impressive.
Leonard Knight's message was clear : God is Love.
What is particularly breathtaking is the sight of this colourful, vibrant mountain, in the middle of the desert. This is the view from the front, from the back you see Slab City, a squatter-village of some 150 residents who live off zero fees and have zero rules, other than "live and let live". The land is owned by the state. You may have seen it in Sean Penn's Into the Wild.
This is the space where Leonard Knight lived until his health gave out before his death, sharing the space with cats, in the unbearable desert heat.
